Workshop "Introduction to the Specialized Field of Robotics" Held

According to the report of Khatam University’s public relations and website department, Khatam University, in collaboration with Datin Company, held the workshop "Introduction to the Specialized Field of Robotics" on May 20 in Imam Reza Hall. The event featured members of Qazvin University's RoboCup team (FARAL) and was attended by computer engineering students.

Mohammad Amin Ghaemi, head of the FARAL research team and technical manager of Datin Company's Qazvin office, stated in a speech that various universities are active in the field of RoboCup in Iran, and said: "Khatam University is at the beginning of joining this group, and with the very appropriate hardware and software equipment it has provided for its students, it can hope for its future presence in this field if its students are persistent and motivated".

"Datin Company has created a program with the help of Khatam University called Industry and University Research, and Khatam University is also going to join the group of universities that have robotics research centers, and we are going to create the initial software and team core related to this event and deliver it to the students of this university. Of course, algorithmic knowledge and reading reference books in this field, including the works of Professor Mohammad Ghodsi, Director of the Computer Department at Sharif University of Technology, are very helpful," he stated.

While introducing the prominent RoboCup teams of Iran, Ghaemi added:"It must be acknowledged that we are currently in a period of stagnation for robotics teams and RoboCup leagues in Iran, while in the past years we have seen the remarkable brilliance of Iranian teams in various global competitions."

Continuing the discussion, Zarei, a senior robotics expert and member of the FARAL team —winners of two championship medals in the RoboCup World Championships— introduced the Rescue and Rescue Simulator League. This league was designed to participate in the RoboCup 2025 World Championships in Brazil, focusing on decision-making in critical situations such as earthquakes and floods.

He also addressed students interested in entering the specialized field of robotics and said: "If you want to enter the field of robotics, you must learn technical skills and, in addition to theoretical topics, become proficient and equipped in technical areas. The advantage of participating in the global robotics competitions is to connect with top-notch professors and universities in this field in a world that can open new horizons for you."

Asghari, another member of the FARAL team, also stated in this workshop that the prerequisites for turning a student into a RoboCup researcher include having a team spirit, knowledge of Java or Python, and algorithmic knowledge and insight. Referring to the very appropriate and advanced equipment that has been prepared at Khatam University for the participation of students of this university in the RoboCup World Competition, She said: "In addition, success in this field only requires motivation to work and, of course, a lot of perseverance."
